I Survived 2019

Another crazy year.

If I thought I took an L on 2018 – 2019 MIGHT have at least been a Draw, if only due to how it finished out.

If things would settle down in 2020; I’d really appreciate it.

Checking back on what I had set out on in late 2018 for 2019…

Learning – I made it into a Cloud Team but got hard passed on actually “doing” much related to Cloud solutions outside of personal endeavors. Pretty weird huh? That seems ALMOST an impossibility given the team. I’m giving myself a C.

Automation – I was able to “kind of” automate some things but other things I was trying are either impossible the way I’m doing them or beyond me. I’m still working at it and haven’t outright quit so I’m giving myself a B-.

Productivity – This remains one of my most successful areas; because of it I was able to track and complete numerous objectives and projects. Flat A.

Blog – Yikes. If I don’t do more here – this little project is toast; I think I’m going to aim for a quarterly release schedule. Let us see how that goes. D-

Video – I’ve continued capturing but not editing or posting anything anywhere. Maybe I could adopt the quarterly release schedule as well? B-

Podcasting – Interestingly one of the most successful projects of the year; Launching a Podcast. It sadly didn’t last for a myriad of reasons, which I take responsibility for. There were parts I loved and parts I absolutely hated but (with help) was able to launch it, on a platform, with talent, recorded and edited a few high-quality episodes. Mission Accomplished. A+

Skating – This fell hard. I gained a LOT of weight that if I want to resume doing this – needs to go. Solid C Effort.

Notable Multipliers On the Year -/+ (Top/Bottom few anyway)

-,- Lost 2 dearly loved pets
-,-/+ Other Medical Pet Issues were diagnosed and resolved
– Fought going to 30-minute Daily Stand-Up Meetings for 6 Months (Because people are unaccountable)
– Watched wonderful friends move on to new opportunities
– Lost out on employment opportunities
– Busted my foot

+/- Tried a new exercise method – pushed myself too hard and quit (This is known as “The Peanut Butter Incident” and if at least 1 person asks; I will share the story here for the world to laugh at)
+/- Attempted to calculate the business cost of downtime, and found out literally no one wanted to know

+ Got a new desk with a window
+ Got another new desk without a window
+ Was gifted a key to the Haunted Mansion
+ Launched a passion Podcast
+ Helped Launch a Professional Podcast
+ Launched an Enterprise Solution
+ Landed a Unicorn Job

For 2020

* Continue on the objectives from 2019
* Keeping the “2020 vision” jokes to a minimum
* Additional Weight Loss Must Happen; 5K must be faster.
* Balance – Continue to balance work/home with a rededicated focus on home life for 2020 – the new job is actually helping with this a lot.

If you’re still reading this, Lord knows there wasn’t a bunch to read in 2019; thanks again.

See you next quarter OR sooner! (Maybe, but probably not).
